Results that speak for themselves

From ASP to Cal Berkeley

Elise Garcia, one of ASP's first athletes, trained out of Sean's parents' garage starting in 2020 and became a D1 NCAA Champion in 2021. As a senior she led the Bears in the 50 free and ranked second in the 100 free, swam three relays at the 2022 NCAA Championships.

ASP Training

How do we begin training?
Schedule a free initial assessment here (12+ years). A confirmation email will be sent after date/time are determined. Athletes will be given access to scheduling after the initial assessment.
What is the free initial assessment for?
The free initial assessment allows us to identify an athlete’s goals, mobility, movement quality, strengths, weaknesses, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This information allows us to create an individualized training program specific for the athlete’s goals and needs.
How are training programs individualized?
We use several factors to tailor each athlete's program: #1 Mobility: Athletes have different mobility needs. We build active range of motion in key areas while stabilizing hypermobile ones. #2 Sport position: A breaststroker's needs differ from a butterflier's, a water polo wing's from a point player's, a libero's from a setter's. We train to the demands of the position. #3 Strengths and weaknesses: We use Key Performance Indicators to assess each athlete's strength and power, then apply the Bucket System to address weaknesses and maintain strengths. #4 Communication: We check in regularly on readiness, fatigue, and how training is transferring to sport, and adjust accordingly. #5 Timing: Athletes peak at different times, and training shifts between offseason and in-season. Individualized programs keep each athlete peaking on schedule.
Are appointments necessary for training?
Yes, all training sessions must be scheduled directly in the Aquatic Sports Performance app. Scheduling closes 24 hours prior to each training session.
How many sessions a week should an athlete train?
We recommend 1-2x per week for beginners and 1-3x per week for advanced trainees. Ideal training frequency will be discussed depending on # of sport practices, school workload, travel logistics, etc. Training frequency also fluctuates between 0-3x per week depending on the time of season.
Will training help prepare athletes for Collegiate Strength & Conditioning?
All of our high school seniors are given as many tools as possible to handle the demands of Collegiate S&C. Our athletes have gone on to compete at Cal Berkley, Harvard, USC, NYU, UCSD, UCSB, West Point, Santa Clara University and many other.
What is the youngest age you train?
Our Youth Sports Performance program is for athletes aged 7-11. Our private and semi-private program is for athletes 12 years and older. Our younger athletes go through a long-term athletic development (LTAD) program and use mostly body weight movements to enhance their movement quality/capacity and kinesthetic awareness.
Does ASP only train aquatic athletes?
ASP works with athletes of all sports. ASP coaches have experience working with all sports.
What happens after the free assessment, and how does pricing work?
After your free assessment, your coach maps out a training plan built around your goals, sport, and schedule, then walks you through the options that fit. We offer membership and punch-card options to match your goals and schedule, so you can train at the frequency that makes the most sense for you. Your coach will help you choose the right fit during your assessment, with no obligation to continue.

We love ASP! As a parent of a D1 water polo athlete, it is great to send them to a place that knows how to work with Aquatics Athletes and not just have them lifting like a football player. My son got strong and looked strong. I highly recommend.

I have been swimming for 11 years and have had various experiences with trainers who claim to understand how the physiology of swimming worked, but I only ever felt stronger out of the water. Fortunately, With a stroke of luck I was connected to aquatic sport performance through an old swimmer friend and have never looked back. Everything I do makes sense, and I finally feel like I'm training for my sport. On top of that, with his set training I have finally been able to drop time in my events after two years of being stuck in a plateau. Sean has been an absolute amazing trainer and overall person to have in my life and I owe my new found success to him.

I first started training at ASP with Sean back in March of this year. I had certain goals I wanted to achieve during both my senior year high school season and during my last summer long course season before heading to college. Because of covid, the weight room at my club team was closed so I didn't have access to lift weights with a trainer. What I love about ASP is not only the amazing environment and lovely staff, but also the options we can choose for our workouts and the personalized workouts that best suits our own needs. My club team had access to the weight room shortly after I started training with Sean, but I continued to train with him on my own time. I was confident in his training, and I definitely felt stronger and more confident in myself in and out of the pool from his workouts. The amount of motivation I have gained from training at ASP is surreal, and going there was always something I looked forward to throughout every week. Since 2019, I haven't been able to go best times at meets. With the help of Sean and two other coaches (Courtney and Andrew), I was able to go 5 best times over this past summer. I highly recommend athletes to go and try out some workouts with Sean. Not only is he a great coach, but he's a great mentor and someone who has a great understanding in athletics.

Aquatic Sports Performance has been an incredible place for my kids. Since joining, they have become not only physically stronger but also more confident and mentally resilient. Coaches Sean and Sid, along with their amazing team, are truly dedicated professionals. They are knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely care about helping every athlete reach their goals. The positive environment they've created has made a huge difference in my children’s athletic journey, and I’m so grateful for the growth we’ve seen. Highly recommend to any swimmer looking to take their performance to the next level!

Our experience at Aquatic Sports Performance has been amazing. Both of my kids have been training here for almost two years, and the improvement we’ve seen in their strength, mobility, and overall athletic performance has been incredible. This facility truly specializes in training aquatic athletes — helping swimmers become faster, stronger, and more resilient in the water. The coaching staff is knowledgeable, supportive, and committed to helping each swimmer reach their full potential. If you have a swimmer who is serious about improving their swimming career, I highly recommend Aquatic Sports Performance. It’s the perfect place for athletes who want to take their performance to the next level.

Genuinely could never recommend this place enough. I’m a remote athlete out of Ohio, so I haven’t personally been to this gym. However every single person at ASP has an incredible passion and work ethic for what they do. What they are doing to their athletes, as well as the swimming community as a whole is nothing short of incredible. If you’re not following aquatic sports performance, their athletes, their stories, and their information, frankly you’re falling behind. ASP is the future. Pursue Potential.

I’ve been training for three months now with Aquatic Sports Performance as an “online athlete,” and the online dryland program is simply brilliant: perfectly tailored gym sessions that directly complement the water training — improving body position, feel for the water, strength, and especially mobility. Even as an online athlete, the support is outstanding. Sean and his team impress with incredible expertise and a great, friendly attitude. Questions are answered thoroughly, and you’re perfectly supported in your daily training routine. Simply absolutely recommendable. Thank you so much for that!

Coach Sean and his team are phenomenal! We appreciate how methodical he is in his training for his athletes. Our daughter enjoys working out at ASP because of the coaches, the environment, and striving to attain the goals she’s set for herself in her swimming career. She feels stronger and continues to see improvement in the gym as well as in the pool. UPDATE: Our daughter has definitely gotten stronger physically. She continues to drop quite a substantial amount of time at each meet. Coach Sean and his trainers are exceptional and truly care about their athletes! 2nd UPDATE: After a shoulder injury in August 2024 and four months of physical therapy, our daughter returned to training with ASP in January. She’s been excited to work again with Coach Sean, Coach Sid, and the team. Coach Sean has carefully tailored her sessions to support her recovery, helping her regain strength and mobility. She has been able to drop time again in her events which has been super encouraging!

My son has truly enjoyed working out at ASP. He always felt welcomed and supported. He has been training with ASP for about 4 months and I can already see an improvement in his performance in swimming. Definitely a great opportunity that I would recommend to any others looking to improve their swimmer's capabilities. My son feels ASP is without a doubt a gym that could help a swimmer achieve his or her goals.

My daughter joined ASP last year. Her training has been extremely fulfilling. I could not ask for better coaches, from meeting Sid and Sean, everyone here is very helpful, and patient will all their athletes. My daughter has developed so much strength physically and mentally. It is such a great environment for her! Thank you for all your doing with these athletes!

Knowledgeable, friendly, dedicated trainers is what you will find at ASP. I truly appreciate the interest the trainers take in my daughter’s training development in each session and help her build strength, increase endurance, and improve recovery in the water. She has consistent improvement in her strokes times but more importantly, she has more confidence in every aspect of swim both in and out of the water that I can attribute to her trainers and swim coaches. Thank you.

My daughter started at ASP last year and it has been a great experience. The trainers tailor the workouts to her age and ability and continually support her. With the progress she has been making my son just joined and even though he’s a baseball athlete they have a full regimen for all athletes not just aquatics. It’s been great for both of my kids.

I started ASP in the last week of December (2024) and have seen significant improvements in my core strength and mobility in less than 4 months. During the evaluation what struck me was that Sean spent time identifying the core areas that had to be worked upon to make me a stronger/faster swimmer, and those efficiency areas were spot on. Focusing on mobility has greatly assisted me in areas where I’ve had opportunities to improve, and this wouldn’t have been possible without Sean, in particular, taking the time to understand these opportunities. The entire program has a solid structure with using technology to log workouts and then taking notes, which has also been a big difference from past programs that I was a part of. Thank you ASP, you rock!
